Tallahassee is the capital of Florida and is on the opposite side of the country from where I was born. I was born and raised in Sacramento, the state capital of California. My ancestors had lived in California for generations. In fact,some of them were "49ers"---coming to California in 1849 searching for gold. Others of them survived the trip through the mountains with the Donner Party.Wanting a change of scenery, I followed my older sister to  Frot Walton Beach,Florida. I moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida Stase University,where I have now lived for 40 years. Florida State University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I later earned my Master\'s Degree in Mathematics Education.I have taught grades three through eight. In the elementary grades(third,fourth and fifth) I taught in self-contained classrooms. This means I taught all subjects,with an emphasis on reading and writing. In the intermediate grades(sixth,seventh,and eighth) I taught math,language arts,and geography.My daughter,Elizabeth,attends Tallahassee Community College and plans to attend the University of Florida in the fall. My husband,wendell,is a retired science teacher and has a grounds keeping business which keeps him very busyI have been retired from classroom teaching for 4 years. I now supervise elementary education interns for Flagler College-TCC in our local public schools. I also keep busy with private tutoring,volunteer work with a hospice organization and a pet therapy group. I am a student of Tai Chi and yoga. I enjoy traveling and have visited continental Europe,Ireland,Peru,Costa Rico,and soon Taiwan! I enjoy the company of my seven cats and dog when I\'m watching movies,another favorite pastime of mine.
