魚類性別決定一直都是業界關心，也是學術上的有趣議題。
產業關心魚類性別決定當然是著眼在利益為主，
例如某些魚種的母魚比較肥美，或者是增加繁殖量等目的。
從另一個角度，「性別怎麼被決定？」這本來就是個讓人好奇的問題，
從小時候我們或許就有問過：「為什麼我是男（女）生，而不是女（男）生」，
當然，父母可能會說：「因為你有＊＊＊」來解釋。
但是從這邊我們就可以知道，
即使在孩提時，「性別決定」就已經是大家想知道答案的問題。
單純以人類性別性別決定的觀點來看其他生物，
會有不小的問題，也會使一些很有趣的例子被錯失（例如小丑魚的變性等），
尤其在看部分魚類、爬蟲類的時候，
因為這些生物的性別決定不是單單倚靠人類的XY機制，
他們有的是使用其他的系統，例如WZ等，
而除了基因決定之外，環境因素亦是不可忽略的，
例如對於某種鱷魚，當溫度過高時會偏向某種性別，而過低時又會偏向另一種性別
（很抱歉，正確的敘述我已經不記得了。畢竟這是一篇大家一分鐘內就會看完的文章，
我也不想花這麼多時間去找資料，而在沒有點數、沒有權力上下關係的狀況下，
我應該也不會理會這種要求 XD）
回到原題，其實關於孔雀魚的性別決定機制，已經有累積不少的學術文獻

有關孔雀魚（胎生將魚）的部分只有簡述在p.4 結語的上面那段：
「pH越低，雄性比例越多；pH趨中，雌性比例增加。」
而這也符合denir在原文推文中觀察到的現象。
甚至連實驗室環境的壓力都會影響孔雀魚的性別比例偏向母魚

如果這些東西都會影響精、卵所帶的染色體，
但卻硬要說公母只是基因決定，而排除這些會在更前面影響的壓力、pH乃至於溫度，
那麼，這樣的宣稱未免太過硬凹。
